Welcome to WOTW!
We are not rangers, volunteers, or a formal organization. We are a network connected by our Facebook group and by this site as a social group that brings people together for getting out into the wilderness. We will do stewardship events where we clean the forest of trash, restore campsites, and teach some basic techniques used in backpacking and hiking.
What’s your skill level? Only you can determine that, but we all start somewhere. We will schedule hikes, and you can ask us what fitness level and equipment you need to comfortably enjoy yourself.
We believe in the Leave No Trace Principles that were developed by www.LNT.org
We will promote sharing the beauty of our public forest landmarks by providing GPS coordinates and what we believe to be safe routes with difficulty ratings.
-We will always be honest.
-We will promote Leave No Trace Principles.
-We will promote 10 Essentials.
-We will promote visitors to our beautiful places.
-We are expected to make safe decisions.
-We will clean up after others.
-We will not become a group of elitist.
-We will be friends, stewards and adventurist above all.
- We will respect our members at all times.
- It is our creed to respect all people in and out of our social hiking group.
The regular hiking group meets on scheduled days of every month throughout the year with some exceptions due to weather or holidays.
IMPORTANT: In order to participate in the hiking group, each member must complete the release form. Please download the release form on our "FORMS" page and return it completed & signed to the hiking group leader, at your first hike.
For more information, contact Chip Carlisle by form submission on this site's homepage.
